This has been around the internet for a while, but nobody’s posted on it yet.

(Warning: Cussing in the videos for those with dainty ears)

http://www.geekwire.com/2012/seattles-creepy-cameraman-pushes-limits-public-surveillance/

This guy goes around with a camera, taping people at random to make a point about public surveillance. His point is a strong one, but I think the message is missed by the majority of those he tapes and those who watch the results. Still, hopefully it’s an eye opener for a few.

Creepy Cameraman is creepy indeed, on so many levels.

Interesting idea, but, as above, is likely to attract more attention, particularly by anyone patrolling the streets or monitoring CCTV.

Hey all. You may all be well aware of this topic, but I didn’t see it anywhere in the old forum.

When this topic first came out a couple years ago it popped up in my “weird news” feed.

http://ahprojects.com/projects/cv-dazzle

http://cvdazzle.com/

At first glance I thought it was aptly categorized, but the more I read, the more of its base potential I saw. While the styles on the site are a bit wild and I’ll likely never be traipsing around the club scene it’s still interesting how something as simple as a couple of smudges could throw off facial recognition software.

When wearing camo paint they teach you “dark on the highs, light on the lows”, which basically reverses the natural shadow patterns of the face and makes it surprisingly more difficult to spot. (In the forest, that is. Wear face camo in the city and you’re likely to meet the local constablulary!) The CV Dazzle makeup may hide you from the cameras, but you’re more noticeable to the people around you, especially in places where the cctv is monitored like shops where the humans behind the cameras will naturally key on the odder looking individuals.

On the other hand, it’s difficult to identify a person with and then without extreme hair/makeup styling and vice versa.

Sorry if this is a mess. I’ve never posted anything informative before.
