I do not know if such a list exists but I am interested in steps others are taking to disengage.  Perhaps we can create a list of simple every day methods that we can share?

i.e.,
1.  Always pay with cash when possible - avoids electronic trail of purchases
2.  Purchase prepaid cellphones without GPS capability.

More ideas for going off the grid:

Use prepaid debit cards for online/offline transactions. They are often marketed as an option for people who have difficulty getting regular credit cards. Google 'prepaid debit cards' for examples. Disadvantages include significant set up and monthly fees. Some can be used for limited purchases without any kind of registration. To register requires a mailing address and often some kind of ID.
It is becoming more and more difficult to pay by cash now. For example, certain hotels ask for photo ID and proof of address if you want to pay cash, so the prepaid cards may help.

If you are travelling or have temporary addresses you can receive mail using the 'poste restante' facility at certain post offices (called 'general delivery' in the US). You arrange for mail to be addressed to you 'c/o poste restante' followed by the post office address. You may need ID when you collect and mail is only held for a few weeks. This service is not used much now, probably due to the advent of email and mobile phones. It is best to check that the post office staff understand the system before you use it. I have found it useful to preserve privacy when I do not want to discloses my residential address. Go to www.royalmail.com and search 'poste restante' for details in the UK.

I hope this helps.

Good topic :)  I use wired plastic/visa prepaid which works very well and I use my local u.p.s office for mail...it's like a p.o box but you have an actual street address.  For a phone I use cricket, which is unlimited everything and has no contracts or anything.  Also, using and open source MAC helps.  I'm looking forward 2 hearing any other ideas, as I would like to get off-grid more.

rent , most ask for

rent , most ask for referances but few check

set up a company (know as a shell) with loads of names made up for ceo etc make yourself low on the pecking order,
once youve done this set up company bank account and have all vehicles registered, insurance for car /bike(trade), cards, everything thru said company, with a po box address

fake id tbh most are easy to get this will aid in the above, always use memorible name eg your real first and middle name as surname

work for cash,

deposit nessesary funds into company account seldomly and in differnt banks or by western union (wire transpher)

get out of your likely areas, likely areas are places where you may bump into someone you know, going across the other side of the world might sound good but if your old girlfriends family go there every year on holiday it kind of defeats the purpose

stay legal, dont speed ,park illegaly etc , less attention is the way forward

cut ties, pretty much everthing can be traced if someone really wants to, start a new life forget the old one

sat phones, allows comms anywhere can be prepaid and also used for internet etc

ip masking sites, you connect to them they connect to what your looking for, harder back trace but not full proof

i could probably thing of fifty more but i think they are the basics
