Talk Shows/News programs being silent about WikiLeaks?
As many of us know by now, WikiLeaks has recently released an astounding number of documents regarding the true goings-on in the war in Iraq. Many people all over the world have anticipated details about what is being called the largest U.S. Government leak in history. However, the news networks have barely given any attention at all to the leak.
An article that "explains" can be seen here: http://tinyurl.com/2wmbur9
In my opinion, the Republican excuse of "we didn't think it was that interesting" is Class-A B.S. Anyone who goes onto search engines that post trending topics will know that many, many people have been looking for info on the leak.
Another group suggested that the leak "just confirms what the people already knew." Are you freaking kidding me?! Take a look at the documents on WikiLeaks' page. Personally, I knew there were shady an unethical things going on. But I was shocked, and even horrified at some of the stuff I saw.
I may sound like a conspiracy nutjob right now, but the best explanation is that the media has, yet again, been censored by government officials with their own agendas.
It does sound like they are either being censored by the government or are self-censoring - for whatever reason.
There has been some coverage in the UK, but again not much - when the leaks first broke it was covered a fair bit - and also the leak affects the USA's reputation more than it does the UK's.
I have heard that all the coverage which the New York Times has put out has been heavily 'dumbed down' - there is even a site on the internet for a New York Times torture euphemism generator, reflexing their refusal to use the word 'torture' to reflect the acts carried out by the USA.
Just read the article.
I am not overly surprised that hardly anything was said by the media about such a great leak. To state what Anna Rosa once said on a flyer: our governments are quickly approaching a nanny state, which is none to far form a police state when all is said and done.
Of course we are not having news broadcasts on the 400,000 spilt secrets - the less people who know about it the better. With most people blindly buying into everything the media says (even if they deny it) if the media were to even do a short feature on it them society would find these documents and read. Then they would talk, more people would know and thus the less faith the majority would have in our government.
In short having the news spread the knowledge of the existence, and the specifics of, the secrets would be worse for the government than the actual leak itself. The last thing they want is knowledge to spread - knowledge is power, why would they want to empower the people?

i will enjoy reading these papers, lets see how much they have actually covered, and after being there in person im sure i'll find how close to home the reports are compared to the real event
Please keep us informed as to what you find! :D

tbh you lot will have a nightmare trying to decipher the reports , i speak squadie and it was a pita for me with the black outs (which they are right to do btw names ranks etc)
it does imho show how matter of fact you get out there even in offical reports feeling comes across and you'll see the later the date the more jaded the responce
so far nothing dramatic jumps out but as im sure you'll understand ive just had a inital look ,using dates im aware of as starting points, so have only scratched the surface
if any of you find a relevent report worthy of note send me a link to it and i'll have a butchers
A great continuation of this debate that, regrettably, didn't occur here on the forum can be found HERE. Should you wish to join the discussion you need only be able to comment on my wall post so friend request me. I'll be glad to add you.

There was about 2mins worth of coverage here in Ireland it was about documents leaked showing the irish goverment to have altered their public face in relation to allowing the us military use shannon as a refuelling base as elections were approaching. Doesn't suprise me in the slightest....
