I didn't think this would actually happen...
The state I live in, Georgia, has some messed up people in power. The Republican congressmen entered a bill for consideration that would actually require people to have microchips in the brain, for easier tracking of criminals and more convenient "credit card access." At first, I thought it was a joke, but it was actually put up for debate, then vote. It didn't pass, which tells me that there are still some smart people left in power here. It's bad enough that the public transit system is now transferring to state control, instead of a private company.
And people think I'm crazy. Well, I am...but not about this.

Really? you think that is a bad thing? why?
And people think I'm crazy. Well, I am...but not about this.
To quote a favorite singer of mine: "If we weren't all crazy, we would go insane" (Jimmy Buffett, Fruitcakes)

Seems he has a point here Kia… ;)

It sounds like the state has been dumped with the transit system as it is no longer profitable - if it were profitable they would not be closing it down.
Once again the private sector creams all the cash and assets and dumps the crap on the state to take the blame for it all going wrong.
Welcome to capitalist society! :D

but you said in your first post that you wish it were a private company, not in state control - what private company would touch it if the only way it can successfully operate is with a large budget (i.e. massive handout)?

My 2 cents
The government threatened to take control of our airlines a while ago too... I couldn't imagine how useless air transportation would be if it were in the governments hands.
The government rarely handles public transportation in a decent manner, from what I have gathered for myself.
It's a penny for your thoughts, yet you put your two cents in…where'd the other penny come from? Must be the result of capitalist price gouging…

Well, public transit going to government control was bad, because the governor is going to shut off all funding to it. They won't be able to maintain the bus routes or railways, because the income alone won't be nearly enough to cover anything. First, it'll close some more routes (it's shut down more than half it's original routes in the last year) to compensate. Then the rail station times will be delayed. I think the whole thing will be forced to closed down permanently within the year, and there are hundreds of thousands who rely on it just to get work (including myself).
If the state were actually planning to at least try to fix the issues with public transit, it wouldn't be such a bad thing. But in my state, if you don't make six figures a year, you are not worth anyone's time. That's actually what the frontrunner for the next governor said on live television during a debate.
